The Man Behind the Name
“Sayang” means love in Malay, and Nari was my father’s nickname. He wasn’t an entrepreneur or a public figure. He was simply a man whose quiet optimism and unwavering belief in possibility shaped the way I see the world. He believed we are never defined by what is immediately in front of us, but by what we have the courage to become. He also believed that realizing our own potential carries a responsibility to create possibilities for others. To him, success meant little if it only benefited us. When one person moves forward, they create a path that others can follow.
Years later, when my son’s illness unexpectedly changed the course of our family life, those lessons became more than childhood memories—they became the foundation I held onto. My father’s belief in hope gave me the courage to look beyond what was immediately in front of us and have the faith to trust and believe in the possibility of better days ahead.That journey ultimately inspired SayangNari.
